Popupsmart vs OptiMonk
Both are no-code popup builders that bill on pageviews and have a free plan. OptiMonk's free plan is bigger, it costs less up to 30,000 pageviews a month, and every plan carries its ecommerce features. Above that traffic Popupsmart costs less or the same, covers more websites on each plan, and has cookie consent and click-to-call campaigns. Below: what each plan includes, as each company's own pages list it, and what G2 reviewers say.

Choose Popupsmart if…
- Your site gets more than 30,000 pageviews a month: from there to 500,000, Popupsmart costs less or the same
- You run several websites on one plan: 3 at 50K pageviews, 7 at 250K, unlimited at 500K
- You need cookie consent or click-to-call campaigns, or your leads go to Make, Customer.io or Drip
Choose OptiMonk if…
- Your site gets up to 30,000 pageviews a month, where OptiMonk costs less
- You run an online store and want personalized product recommendations, add-to-cart and revenue per campaign
- You want every feature, and live chat support, on the free plan
Popupsmart or OptiMonk: which should you choose?
OptiMonk does more for an online store, and it starts cheaper. Its free plan allows 10,000 pageviews a month with unlimited campaigns, every feature and no branding; Popupsmart's allows 5,000, with one popup live at a time and Popupsmart branding. OptiMonk's paid plans start at $19 a month for 20,000 pageviews and $29 for 30,000, where Popupsmart's start at $39 for 50,000: up to 30,000 pageviews, OptiMonk costs less. Every OptiMonk plan carries A/B testing, analytics and its store features: product recommendations personalized to each visitor, add-to-cart from the popup and revenue measured per campaign. Its integrations page lists 39 email, SMS, CRM and analytics tools against Popupsmart's 19, it offers live chat on every plan, and on G2 it is rated 4.8 from 159 reviews, against Popupsmart's 4.5 from 141.
Popupsmart's case starts above 30,000 pageviews. From there to 500,000 it costs less or the same at every step: $39 against $44 at 50,000, $69 against $69 at 100,000, $99 against $129 at 250,000 and $159 against $179 at 500,000. Each plan covers more websites, and paying yearly lowers the price ($32.50 / mo at 50,000), where OptiMonk's yearly price is twelve monthly payments. It also has campaigns OptiMonk doesn't list: cookie consent, click-to-call and an autoresponder email, and Smart Mode, which picks the audience with AI. If that traffic, several sites or those campaigns describe you, choose Popupsmart. If your traffic is below that, if you want every feature before you pay, or if store features like personalized recommendations decide it, choose OptiMonk; we would rather say so than argue otherwise.
How the two tools differ
Popupsmart
Popupsmart gates features by plan, covers more websites on each one, and has campaigns for more than a store: cookie consent, click-to-call, an autoresponder email.
The free plan carries 5,000 pageviews a month and every campaign type, with one popup live at a time and Popupsmart branding. Paid plans start at $39 a month for 50,000 pageviews and add unlimited popups, analytics, more websites and Smart Mode, which picks the audience with AI after a month of manual targeting. A/B testing starts on the Advanced plan, at $69 a month. On Shopify it targets by cart value, cart contents and purchase history, and creates a unique discount code for each visitor. Leads go to 19 destinations, Zapier and Make among them.
OptiMonk
OptiMonk puts every feature on every plan, the free one too, and builds for online stores: the price rises only with pageviews and websites.
The free plan allows 10,000 pageviews a month on one website, with unlimited campaigns, every feature and no branding. Paid plans start at $19 a month for 20,000 pageviews. Its features page lists 97 features, 17 of them for online stores: product recommendations personalized to each visitor, add-to-cart from the popup, discount codes applied to the cart, a free-shipping bar and revenue measured per campaign. Its agentic builder drafts a popup from a chat, and an agent reads your results and proposes new campaigns, which it builds for you to approve. Its integrations page lists 39 email, SMS, CRM and analytics tools.

Reviewers praise OptiMonk's customer support above everything else, then how easy it is to use, its design options and its templates. Over a third name nothing they dislike. The complaints are about an editor that can be hard to handle, missing features, design limits, the price for small businesses, bugs and reporting detail. Most of these reviews were written in 2021 and 2022.

Reviewers most often praise how easy Popupsmart is to use and to set up without a developer, then its design options, its targeting and the leads it brings. Their complaints centre on limits: design options they would like wider, the free plan and pageview caps, the price step from free to paid, missing features and reporting depth.

How we made this comparison
Written from experience
We have built and sold Popupsmart, a popup builder, since 2018. That tells us what decides a purchase in this category: how a tool bills, what its free plan holds back, where it sends a lead, and what its users say. Those are the rows on this page.
It also makes Popupsmart one of the two products compared here. So nothing on the page rests on our word alone: every figure comes with its source and the date we read it.
Written by Emre Elbeyoğlu, Founder & CEO of Popupsmart.
The companies' own pages
OptiMonk's plans and features were read live from optimonk.com on 22 Sep 2026, from a US location, as a buyer sees them: its pricing page, its features page, its integrations page, its home page and its own comparison with Popupsmart.
Prices that appear only after a choice on the page, such as a pageview tier, were read by making each choice.
Popupsmart's figures come from our pricing page and our help center. A feature a company's own pages don't list shows as "Not listed", not as missing.
G2's reviews
On 22 Sep 2026 we collected every review of both products on G2: all 159 of OptiMonk's and all 141 of Popupsmart's. An AI assistant read each one in full and sorted what it praises and criticises into themes, counting a review once per theme. No person has checked every tag. The ratings and review counts are G2's.
The quotes are verbatim, checked word for word against G2, and each links to its review with the labels G2 gives it: organic or invited, incentivized or not. Reviews reach G2 in different ways, so each product's source line says how many are which, and when they were written.
We re-read the companies' pages and G2 at least every 90 days, and the dates on this page move when we do. If a figure here is out of date, tell us through our contact page.
