If you wish to send your users to a specific page when they hit the submit button on your popup form, then this recipe is just for you.
Redirecting visitors to a relevant page boosts user experience (UX) and helps you double up on your conversions as they’ve already shown interest in your form. Whether you want to redirect them to a thank-you page or take them to a landing page where they can download a file or get more information.
In this recipe, you’ll learn how to redirect your Popupsmart form to another URL in a super simple way.
Step 1: Create a Form Your Popupsmart Dashboard
Popupsmart offers a wide range of popup templates you can choose and design as much as you like to match your brand. Once you pick a template on the Layout section, scroll down to adjust your popup’s on-page position and popup type such as a sidebar, floating bar, or full-screen.
Pro Tip: If you aren’t yet inspired about how you can design your campaign. You can see our Showcase to clone editable popup. It’s also possible to go to the Showcase by clicking the Clonable Popup Showcase button on the Layout section of your builder screen.
Step 2: Go to Customize Section to Edit to Your Preference
There are many design options you can customize on your popup. You can edit its general appearance like color, border-radius, open effect, and add custom CSS. Then continue designing by adding a headline, description, and input fields.
Note that you can always add more input fields like;
Just go to Customize section and click on the “add a new form field” button to add the type of input field you want to add. As a side note, you can always delete or hide input fields after adding them.
For more information, see our form fields documentation.
Step 3: Go to Customize Section to Choose Button Action
Now, the vital part about your popup is its CTA button. On the Customize section, click on the button with the CTA text and then, Click on the Choose Action drop-down menu. Select Send & Redirect URL.
For example, you can enter the URL of a page where users can download a file you promised in return for contact information or a thank you page. However, mind that instead of showing a thank you page, using our success popup option for your thank you message is also a choice.
Here’s how our e-book popup looks:
We advise creating a separate campaign on the dashboard for your mobile users since the image you add for desktop might not be optimal for mobile. See our mobile example of the same popup below:
To preview your campaign’s mobile version, click on the mobile icon on the right middle side of the screen. The green spot next to it means that your popup is activated for mobile or vice versa if it’s red.
To activate your popup for mobile devices, go to Target > Visitor Device > Mobile.
Now your visitors that hit your popup submit button will be redirected to your configured URL. Great job!
