After X Page Visit Targeting
Show your popup campaign to visitors who have viewed at least X pages during the same visit. Learn how to set up After X Page Visit targeting in Popupsmart.
After X Page Visit targeting shows your campaign to visitors who have viewed at least a set number of pages on your website during the same visit.
This lets you reach people who are already exploring your site, instead of interrupting them on the very first page they land on.
How After X Page Visit Works
Popupsmart counts the pages a visitor views within a single session. The landing page counts as the first page.
Example: If you set it to 3 pages, visitors will see your popup once they view their 3rd page.
| Page in the same visit | Counted as | Popup |
|---|---|---|
| Landing page | Page 1 | Not shown |
| Second page | Page 2 | Not shown |
| Third page | Page 3 | ✅ Shown |
Good to know
The page count resets when a new session starts, so a returning visitor begins counting from their landing page again.
How to Set Up After X Page Visit Targeting
Open the Segment Step
Open the popup campaign you want to configure and go to the campaign's Segment step. Then click Add user behavior targeting under User Behavior.

Select After X Page Visit
In the Add User Behavior Targeting modal, select After X Page Visit from the list of triggers.

Set the Number of Pages
Enter how many pages a visitor must view before the popup is displayed. In the example below, the value is set to 3, so the popup appears on the visitor's 3rd page view.

Save and Publish
Save your changes, then publish or update the campaign. The targeting condition will apply after the updated campaign is published.
Use Cases
Choosing the right page count
| Page count | Best for |
|---|---|
| 2 pages | Broad reach while still skipping accidental bounces |
| 3 pages | The balanced default for most campaigns |
| 4-5 pages | High-intent offers such as demo requests or larger discounts |
Combining After X Page Visit With Other Conditions
After X Page Visit can be used together with other targeting options, including:
- After X seconds
- After scroll targeting
- Exit intent targeting
- New or returning visitor targeting
- URL targeting
- Device targeting
Important
User behavior triggers are combined with ANY logic, which means the popup can be triggered by whichever condition is met first. If you add an exit-intent trigger alongside After X Page Visit, the popup may appear on exit intent before the visitor reaches the set page count.
